marichka galadza

Marichka is a life-long singer who has taught in various settings in Japan, Ukraine, the U.S and Canada. She has been singing in church klyros’ and choirs since childhood and in recent years on commission for weddings with the Saint Elias Parish singers and formerly with KalynDar folk group. She recently attended Youth Traditional Song Weekend on a scholarship to learn about African-American Spiritual Music from ethnomusicology professor Kathy Bullock. In December 2014, Marichka completed a 10 day silent Vippassana meditation course where she was inspired to share praise and beauty with others through song.

In April 2016 she completed her Master's of Social Work in community planning in organizations. She works as an outreach worker with refugee and newcomer families by day, and leaves time for lots of craft and DIY workshops, yoga and occasionally contributing writing on art and social issues to the Community Edition newspaper in Kitchener, Ontario.
