MARICHKA GALADZA

Marichka is a life-long singer and community arts facilitator who has taught in various settings in Japan, Ukraine, the U.S and Canada. She has been singing in Eastern Christian klyros’ and choirs since childhood and in recent years on commission for weddings and formerly with KalynDar folk group. She has lead pysanka workshops to share the traditional art of pysanka making with youth and adults since 2010. Most recently her workshops have been offered in efforts to generate support for humanitarian relief in Ukraine.  

In April 2016 she completed her Master's of Social Work in community planning in organizations, and in 2017 founded the first Artist Residency Program with government assisted refugees at Reception House Waterloo Region. She is an outreach worker with refugee and newcomer families by day, and leaves time for lots of craft and DIY workshops, yoga and occasionally contributing writing on art and social issues to the Community Edition newspaper in Kitchener, Ontario.
